The cover for this book is a stylized topographical map, which makes sense in that the majority of the action in the book, at least so far, occurs on a river. Reading maps would be the primary job of the navigator, pilot and captain. The Last Voyage has a strong female lead character with a barge sized chip on her shoulder. I would definitely like to read the rest of the book to find out what happens to the crew of the barge and the habitants of The Outpost. I would posit that the group labeled The Raiders have an equally, compelling backstory and that they are not truly the enemy.
