I loved the way that The Last Voyage of Poe Blythe simply jumps into the story rather than trying to explain everything. We learn over the first few chapters that Poe lives in the Outpost, which is run by the Admiral. They survive by mining gold, although it has yet to be revealed why that is. I enjoyed Poe's strong voice, and found her to be a compelling main character. This excerpt stopped at such a dramatic moment and I can't wait to read the rest of the book!
