While this book was interesting in the end, it was ultimately too confusing throughout to be enjoyable. I thought there were too many characters and I couldn't keep anybody straight. It also felt needlessly confusing. There's a mystery and you don't really understand what is happening until the final 50 pages or so. The book has a sci-fi feel to it and also reminded me of "The Giver" in its dystopian qualities. Some of the actual ideas were really interesting, but it was so challenging to follow the story! I was confusing for most of the book and had a hard time getting into it. This won't be on I'm recommending to anyone.
Once I hit page 300 I had a better sense of what was going on, but by that point I was nearly finished the book! After the epilogue I would have wanted to know more because now I finally understood, but then the book just ends. I usually enjoy this genre of books but this just went over my head!
