I loved The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle so I was very excited to read this book too! The concept is very interesting with a mix of science fiction and murder mystery on one idyllic island. A mysterious fog has swept the world and killed everything in its path. The only thing left untouched is a Greek island with a small amount of people and three scientists or ‘elders’. When one of the scientists is brutally murdered, the murder must be solved in 107 hours or the dog will annihilate the island and its inhabitants too!
What I thought was very interesting was having multiple POVs and one of them being an A.I. named Abi. It was a little confusing at first when I am expecting someone else. But it was very unique and something I haven’t come across before. Emory is a great main character and her defiance and fearlessness doesn’t seem to match anyone else on the island (except maybe her daughter).
The plot was exciting and the murder mystery had lots of twists and turns. It is difficult to guess this type of mystery as a reader because different ‘clues’ and information is giving out slowly throughout the book. It makes it a book I don’t want to put down, but also somehow disappointing that I can’t be more active in trying to solve the case or create theories. Overall I was very entertained and really enjoyed the storyline! I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
