This book has a peculiar point of view that makes it a real novelty to read: it's simultaneously first person and third person narrative. It can take a little bit to get into the groove of reading it, and it did on occasion interrupt the flow of the writing for me.

That said, the concept and execution were fantastic.

The characters were all written in such a way to make you form and break your perception over and over again with the progression of the plot. Who they are is intricately wound with the ways they act and the reasons you may or may not suspect them for the murder.

The plot itself is a new type of dystopia. Humanity is down to its last stronghold, driven together on a small island which is maintained as an almost utopian society. There are many peculiarities (which I will not spoil for future readers) that give this telling its own particular flavor and keep interest sharp.

Overall I would recommend this book with the small caveat that it requires full attention. Trying to skim through it will be a terrible disservice to yourself and the book.
