I loved this book. It reminds me of those puzzles where you have fifteen tiles in a four by four frame and you have to slide them around to get them in order or make a picture. You have to think ahead and concentrate on your moves. However with this book there is an added complication that without realizing it you’ve been working with some tiles that are upside down and sideways and that it is not just four by four but seven by seven. So you not only have to slide the tiles you have to twist and turn them and you’re not 100% sure what the picture is supposed to look like in the end.

It is difficult to discuss an overview of the book let alone the plot without writing another novel, but this is as close as I can get in a nutshell. In an apocalyptic future life is limited to an island just off Greece. The residents consist of a group of scientists and villagers monitored by the omnipotent narrator. A scientist dies and one of the villagers investigates. There are many secrets the results of which shock all involved. The culprit is revealed and life will never be the same.
