Great book/Not for me
For starters I will say this is the first book of 2024 that I had to DNF. There was just something about the story that was not pulling me in unfortunately. I will say though the book is excellently written, and what a premise! A fog has killed most of humanity and the remaining few have survived on a small island, when a murder takes place they only have a few hours to solve the mystery before it’s too late!
There were quite a few things that kept confusing me about this story: there were so many characters introduced and so many names that 1/4 in I thought I had maybe missed a huge chunk. Turns out, one of the “characters” whose dialogue is in the story is in quotations, even tho it’s internal dialogue in a characters mind, it felt to me that it should’ve been italics or a different font to differentiate the tone etc. Most of the characters also felt unlikable to me, but again, I only gave them a quarter to get to know them.
This is definitely a case of great book, just not for me, I hear this author has some incredible work and I’d be interested to read his other titles.
