I. This is such a good concept for a thriller, dystopian, mystery novel.
II. I think the cover made me think this was going to thriller/mystery with light sprinkle of science fiction. Every discovery is interesting to me. It makes me think of Under the Dome without the horror.
III. There is a lot of mystery and things to discover throughout the excerpt. It is interesting how much they reveal in 35 pages stuff that would be revealed in another story halfway through the book or towards the ending.
III. It make sense why Emory is the one who is going to be solving the murder(s)- there is totally going to be more murders come on

The islands only criminal!!!
Questions: First, I would like to state that I enjoy that the story answers questions as it goes along. I actually had to erase questions because they were actually being answered or seen as questionable.
Okay, the murder was done so they could actually fix the dystopia world? Is it about fixing the world or is it more a simple murder covered up with science? Or is it a simple murder? Why kill them at sixty? Are they killing them or is it natural? If there are 120 people on this island do they deal with inbreeding? Who is this person in everyone's head? What scientist is going to die? Is it Hephatus? What is everyones origin? What is specifically Emory origin? Is Emory inquisitiveness manufactured like in a lab? Are they doing tests to see if people will murder or fight each other at night? Did the only criminal on island kill the scientist? Why? I have so many questions.

I am on the fence if I am emotionally into this story.
