This was a really interesting premise! I like the claustrophobic setting the island provides and the mysteries the set-up presents. I'm also especially intrigued by the first-person voice that seems to be connecting everyone on the island, it's very mysterious.
However, the writing style is a little lacking for what I'd expect from such a unique setting--it's a little too simple and straight-forward for me, especially when I really feel like this unique premise could really have such a strong atmosphere. And jumping around in perspectives so much in the first few chapters made it a little difficult for me to get a strong investment in any of the characters. Overall, I think this opening section was pretty solid, but I'm not as hooked as I'd hoped to be.
