In The Last Murder at the End of the World, Stuart Turton fits more mysteries into the first 40 pages than many novels contain in their entirety. On an island surrounded by killer fog, a small community of people live out their lives under the mysterious guidance of three Elders. But are they actually the last people living in the world? And can they trust the Elders, whose longevity and knowledge of the world before coexists with a disregard for human life? And who is getting murdered? And why?

Turton has created a fascinating world, and I was hooked from the first sentence. I look forward to reading the rest!
