Another vivid world conjured by Stu Turton - I cannot wait to read the rest. I'm immediately drawn in by the confusing and mercurial first person narrator presence, apparently a disembodied consciousness, perhaps some sort of divine moral force, dropping in and out of the readers' periphery. Deftly drawn, colourful, fascinating characters. The plot is already more complicated than figuring out Cain's Jawbone but I love the ethical dilemma element, the lock-box setting with touches of Treasure Island or Lord of the Flies. The sunny travel-postcard cover implies something less savage but if it's Turton then it's bound to get dark in the best way possible.
