Eeeeeeee Stuart Turton!
As you may suspect from my title, I am a Stuart Turton super fan. If you want to know why, just read the introduction he wrote for the new edition of the 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. He's so creative, clever, and just generally a delight.
On the surface, his first two books - Evelyn Hardcastle and The Devil and the Dark Water - could not be more different. One is a mystery set in an stately English manor (Downton Abbey with murder) and another is about a 17th shipping vessel potentially haunted by a demon. But they are both wildly inventive, completely unexpected, and so, so, good.
After reading this short bit of The Last Murder at the End of World, I already can't wait for the rest. (To be fair, I couldn't wait the minute I heard the book was coming out.) But the premise is already intriguing - I love a good "end of the world" book - and knowing Stuart, it's going to go in all kinds of fun directions before reaching the end. And then it will be back to waiting for a new Stuart Turton book!
PS - the cover of this one is the best yet.
