This excerpt about an isolated village of people ruled by elders reminds me of the movie “the Village”. I very much appreciate the narrator. I loved that she questions the authority on the island. This places the groundwork for the coming murder which puts everyone on the island in danger. It has the ominous anticipation of a horror movie.
