This was a very interesting young adult psychological thriller! Sloan and Cherry survived a machete mass murder at summer camp and this book follows Sloan as she deals with the aftermath and tries to put together the pieces of what happened that night. Her memories of that night are hazy and nightmares haunt her. Cherry is the only person that makes Sloan feel calm and they’ve bonded since they experienced the horrific event together.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I appreciated how we Sloan’s confused memories of the tragic event were incorporated into this book. It was very fascinating seeing how Sloan slowly became more paranoid and confused as the story went on. Personally, I wish the conclusion would have given more explanations and closure, but maybe that’s just me. If you like young adult psychological thrillers with hints of horror, you may want to give this one a try when it comes out on August 15th.
