First, I feel like this book accurately describes PTSD, in that it fully shows the unravelling - the nightmares, flashbacks that feel real, missing memories, and more. I had such an easy time reading this book. You can easily forget about the world around you once you get into the twisting turns of the story. I had multiple theories about what was going on while reading the book, and every time I think I got it, it gets turned on its head.

Following Sloan in the aftermath of the Camp Money Springs massacre, where 8 out of the 10 people there was killed, Sloan is trying desperately to remember what happened that night. Her memories are blank. The other survivor was Cherry, Sloan's now girlfriend.

"But sometimes, in the worst moments, when everything was too quiet, Sloan wondered if maybe that wasn’t all. If she was missing something. Because when she remembered the cut, when she remembered the sixteen stitches that held her together, it wasn’t because of a fall. It was because of a knife."

Sloan is sure that she was attacked, but how? According to Cherry, who does remember, she helped to keep Sloan safe and alive...
