3.25/5 stars! I feel like this story had a lot going for it. The cover was beautiful and the first few chapters set things up for YA thriller with lots of twists and turns. It just felt like this never ended up going anywhere. I had correctly guessed who the 'villain' was about 5 chapters into the story and I didn't especially like Sloan. It always makes it hard to stay in engaged in a book when you aren't rooting for the main character. I do get that Sloan went through a great deal of trauma, but she was clearly working against her best interests the entire book. Cherry was something else. She was petty and dismissive and Sloan just allowed it. I would like to check out another book by this author to see if it is just a case of not liking this specific book as opposed to her writing style. It definitely read pretty middle school YA. Maybe I'm just aging into more upper YA and adult thriller stories.
