There is a strong element of "amnesia convenience" to the segment we're give to read, which makes it hard to judge. Being the only survivors of a terrible attack would already be traumatic and confusing, so adding in the "new relationship" AND amnesia aspects on top make it hard to connect to the MC. There is a lot of explaining, not just of the Final Girl aspect but all the other real world logistics involved in the current situation and it makes it slower than I was hoping for. I honestly felt like the author was trying to hit too many niches at once.

While I am intrigued by the Final Girl aspect, especially a queer Final Girl duo, I'm unsure if I'd buy this book based on what I've read. (I'd definitely ask for it from the library, though.)

Overall has a nice feeling of "uncomfortable tension" to it, which implies some good horror aspects later, but not a fast paced read.
