I find myself drawn to the idea of what happens to the final girl after the big slasher event is over. With that said, while the ideas from the blurb for The Last Girls Standing feel promising I'm not sure if the writing itself will stand up, it feels like it is going for B movie camp but that is a really hard tone to get down well.
To give an example, I like the idea that Cherry's father might have been part of whatever group attacked the Money Springs camp and thus that she might have been involved somehow in the attack. I want to know more about that whole situation. But the reveal of the rabbit feels weak and Sloan immediately starting to go through the box after her initial fear feels off in a way, like it would work in a piece of visual media but doesn't quite land in a written piece where the reader is in her head as she does so.
I want to read more of this so that I can form a full opinion on it.
