I was very excited to receive an Advance Review Copy of this book, because it sounded like a very unique and original premise, and it certainly did not disappoint! There is so much to explore here about family, heritage, and self-identity. It is an incredibly rich book with an enormous amount of depth, and I think it will appeal to adults and YA readers alike because it is much deeper than a lot of other YA I have read recently. Sometimes you want a mental vacation, but sometimes you really want to think--and this book definitely falls into the latter category! It's also a really cool exploration of how different characters can have similar experiences but yet very different perspectives on them. I feel like that was interesting for this plot line but also a really interesting thing to think about in our own lives. It's a very thoughtful book and I'm so glad to have read it.
