I'll be honest that I have been really excited to read this book ever since I first heard about it. And I'm so excited to say that this story lived up to my personal expectations! It was absolutely amazing!

What I loved the most about this book was the world building and the magic system. I had never read a book inspired by Vietnam, but this one definitely delivered. I also loved how unique and well-developed the magic system is. I loved how a medical aspect was tied into the magic, as I felt the author did it in a unique way. And the exploration of themes such a classism and trauma were also really well done.
Is this book perfect? No, but I don't think any book is. But ultimately, I had a wonderful time reading this book, and would definitely recommend this book to others!
