This is a young adult fantasy book set in a city called Theumas. The town is divided up into different districts and each district is named after a different animal. The author included a map of the city of Theumas in the front of the book which was a really nice touch. The main character Nhika has this ability that allows her to heal people or hurt them if she so chooses. You feel for Nhika instantly because she in all alone in this world. All of her family is gone and she does not have any friends who know the real Nhika.
The Last Bloodcarver is beautifully written and will immediately draw you in. Once I picked up this book, I did not want to put it down. Nhika is a POC and there is an LGBTQ+ relationship in the book as well. The cover is beautifully designed and as you read more and more of the book, you will begin to understand what each part of the design means. This book ends on a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to see what happens next!
