First off, the cover, the bookbinding, and the inside of this book are absolutely gorgeous. I will forever treasure having this book on my shelf, not only for its beautiful design but the story within also.

Nhika has had a hard life, from never knowing her homeland, to perpetually having to hide who she truly is, and she has struggled through living as best she could alone. This has led to her basically embracing the nightmare that is known to be a "Bloodcarver", but her big heart tends to get the best of this particular embrace. This eventually leads to her capture, the ensuing mystery, and to the rest of the characters that fill this novel with so much enjoyment.

Vanessa Le truly has a way with writing that although there were intricacies to the "Bloodcarver" methods, you never felt overwhelmed. I honestly couldn't stop thinking about the story when I put it down to deal with real-life responsibilities. I have seen others gripe about the romance tidbits in the book, but it did not take away from the story for me. It felt as if you were continuing to get to know ALL the characters, not just the main protagonist(s).

I cannot wait to recommend this book to other fantasy/YA lovers like me.

Now to wait for the next part of the story.... very, very impatiently.

I want to thank the publisher for my Advance Review Copy of this book, and the opportunity to read this book. All of the thoughts in this book are my own.
