Nhika’s gift of healing is feared, but when she is caught and sold to the highest bidder, her new owner desires her to heal the person who could reveal their father’s killer. Kochin seems drawn to her, but also pushes her away, and when Nhika discovers the truth about him, she has to decide between her heart and justice...

This book was a unique blend of fantasy magic, science and medicine, technology, and murder mystery.

Nhika was fierce and prickly, with a hidden compassionate heart that drove her to help and heal. Kochin was a complex character developed wonderfully throughout the story.

The mystery was well-paced, and the slow burn, enemies-to-lovers romance was easy to get behind.

I had mixed feelings about the ending, but this is a duology, so I expected to have to wait for resolution anyway. This story was good, so I have high hopes that book two will deliver a satisfying conclusion.
