Good reference guide to reading patterns

I'm glad the author explained right away that this isn't the book that will teach you how to knit. Rather it is more about explaining how to read patterns which is just as important to know. While I crochet from time to time, I've always been too intimidated to try to learn how to knit. This book along with the books the author recommended to read give me a little more confidence that I can pick it up as a hobby. I have a feeling this is the type of book you keep going back to as your skills improve.
