That's what you'll find in Kate Atherley, lead technical editor at Knitty magazine, who has put together The Knitter's Dictionary. It's a great resource to have when you don't have the internet handy, or don't want to look at the instructions on your smartphone, or don't feel like sitting through a video on YouTube. Straightforward instructions, from the samples I saw, as well as useful illustrations.
