Okay, it's not a novel, but I couldn't resist. Really, this is a no nonsense book on knitting terms. There are no fancy or colorful pictures, no illustrations to show you what the terms mean (as far as I saw). It is literally a dictionary of terms that knitters use in their patterns.
I can see how useful this is when you are starting to knit, or even if you are now doing advanced knitting. It is a whole other language, and this book is here to help you decipher what you need to know.
It also has references to help you further determine what you need to know for knitting if you so choose (for example, the author does have some recommendations if you have questions about yarn).
Bottom line, it is a great reference book is you are a knitter.
