Tough Read
This. One. Was. A. Tough. Read. This one was just one of those reads that is hard to dive into from the first page. I found myself unable to immediately grasp onto the characters and take in their individual and intertwined storylines. I am not sure if it was the style of writing, the longgggg chapters, or the underlying story itself. Normally, I love a good mystery - especially if that mystery is based in a small southern oasis of a town, but this one fell immediately dry for me.
I will reluctantly admit, also, that this one almost became a DNF for me. However, as a strong "has to finish every book she picks up" type of reader, I did finish - though the fight to the last page was a long one. I cannot give immense praise for The Kingdoms of Savannah - but I can say that I appreciate the characters by the book's end and accepted each of their fates. Perhaps, acceptance came from just being glad to put the book to rest or from true understanding?
