This book has an amazing sense of place and really paints a detailed picture of the different sides of Savannah—really fascinating to someone who has visited as a tourist!

If you like family dynasty dramas, mysteries with a possible supernatural element, and history or historical fiction this book is for you. Green weaves together characters that you wouldn’t expect to tell a tale of corruption, greed, tragedy, glitz and glamour with ease and a little humor. I loved the descriptions of the different members of the Musgrave family, who rival the Kennedy’s as far as hidden tragedy and prestige in Savannah. This book also offers a compassionate and nuanced look at homelessness in the city, and forgotten communities that many people turn a blind eye to.

The only thing that I did not love about the book is one character’s choice to leave town forever but otherwise, solid read!
