Honestly, I'm not really sure what to think. I liked most of the characters and the history was interesting. I never saw much of Morgana being depicted as "conniving" and having all these "schemes" the way the blurb suggested. Yes, she was drunk and occasionally behaved oddly toward her children, but I saw plenty of redeeming qualities in her as well. Simply a complex character, which makes for a more intriguing plot. I was particularily looking forward to the mystery aspect. It held my attention well enough but seemed unresolved in the end. I guess I was expecting more, especially with all the talk of the treasure. The fire and subsequent charges on Guzman seemed more a way to bring in Morgana and Ransom than having any real significance.
Maybe this is a book I need to read more than once? It wasn't a bad book by any means, but after finishing I feel like I was missing something.
