For some reason despite the reviews of this book, I didn't enjoy it. I didn't appreciate the characters or the situations. I was actually very interested in it as I picked it up before a planned trip to Savannah. I thought it tried too hard to be something but not quite anything if that makes sense. The characters were unlikely to me and it felt like a cross between police procedural, thriller or trying to not take itself too seriously. I hate to be harsh but I truly didn't appreciate it. I stopped mid-way and didn't pick it up again. It's now sitting on my shelf and I doubt I'll finish.
Savannah in and of itself was of interest and I do appreciate the attention to detail placed in the location and setting. This was a very difficult review to write as I wish I had enjoyed the book more. I was looking forward to reading it so hated to be disappointed.
