The Kingdoms of Savannah is a fantastic mystery about the dysfunctional Musgrove family as they get together on the insistence of Cruella Deville like matriarch Morgana to solve the murder of a homeless man and the disappearance of a woman. The book really delves deep into the seedy underside of Savannah and its complicated history. As the story unfolds some of Morgana's family find themselves in the crosshairs. I found the characters incredibly well-written, some dysfunctional, and others are ruthless. The atmosphere is what really sets this one apart. You really get into the dirty underbelly of the city and the humidity drips off the pages. I found the mix of real history along with the fictional parts to be a really interesting way to write the story. What can I say, it really pulls you in. I enjoyed the whole southern vibe of the story, especially the characters. They were unforgettable. I look forward to reading more by this author.
