Well-written and draws you in, but a bit too dark for me

My first impression was that from the cover this is not a book I would pick up. But then from the first words I was immediately sucked in. It's very well-written and compelling, and the characters are very intriguing. However, it quickly became clear that the story itself is way too dark for my taste.
