Opening sentences let the reader know what happened to Luke and Stony but the "why" and the "who" are left unanswered. The reader is then introduced to an unconventional society matron and one of her adult sons who will get drawn into the story. Why does the lawyer son live on the streets? Why does the matron act so weird? There are just as many questions raised as there are characters in the first look. I want the answers!

The cover is beautiful--a sumptuous red chair seems suspended over water. A bright horizon and the chair's reflection on the water draw the eye, promising the appeal of the setting and a surreal element.
