The Kingdom of Back is a historical fantasy retelling of the story of the Mozart children. Mozart's sister was also a child prodigy, and she and Mozart performed together. In this retelling, Mozart's sister does not get her chance to perform publicly until her brother shows his own talents. Then the two perform together.
Nannerl (Maria Anna) is afraid of disappointing her father, as well as possessing a deep-seated fear of being forgotten. She wishes to have her name remembered forever, as the kings and queens are remembered. A boy in the Kingdom of Back hears her wish, and begins to play a game with her, wherein if she assists him in acquiring his throne, then he will help her become immortal.
