The first impression makes me want to read more of this story. Combining historical fiction with elements of fantasy is always a story that interests me, especially since I've read a couple of other books in this genre. While Wolfgang Mozart is a famous composer and pianist whose story I know of, his sister Nannerl is less well known. This book tells more of her story, and I'm looking forward to finding out what happens. Even at age 8, her parents were focused on her marriage, although they were also supportive of her musical talent. However, I can already see the signs that her talent is being eclipsed by that of her younger brother. Nannerl makes a wish and a fantasy world is revealed to her ... a world that somehow crosses over into her reality. The family dynamic is fascinating, with a mother who is gentle and kind, and a father who is a little tougher on her, and withholds his attention and affection when she doesn't meet his high standards. Plus, I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to know at 8 years old that your talent is one of the only things that can help the family. It's a lot of pressure to put on a child, and then to have it shifted to a younger sibling. I'm definitely looking forward to reading this fascinating story.
