I’m going to be transparent and honest. I don’t like sci-fi, fantasy, or anything that isn’t realistic in my head. I don’t usually even give these genres a fighting chance. I’m far from a Trekkie or a Star Wars fan, and AI was possibly one of the worst movies I’ve ever forced myself to sit through. With that said, the first three chapters of this book kept me utterly glued—completely enthralled.
I don’t like math and can barely comprehend thousands of transitory years passing or the whole concept of time-travel, but I don’t care. These characters are interesting and authentic, and the pacing is fantastic. I’m glad I got a First Look, otherwise I never would have even given this story (or awful cover) a chance. I’m shocked and awed that I enjoyed this so much.
