Michael Crichton and Dan Brown in a sci-fi setting sets a high bar, but the description makes it sound like it could approach such standards. As a psych major, I'm all for existential crises. With a backdrop of space, and praise that equates the author with James Cameron in terms of world-building, I can't wait to check it out.
