I LOVED Two Girls Down -- and The Janes, the second book in the Alice Vega series, is just as good. This series is dark and gritty, which suits Vega's personality perfectly. She's such a well-written main character. Mysterious and closed-off, but also determined to do what's right, at any cost. Her dynamic with Cap was fun to read too.
I will note that (as you'll know if you read the synopsis), this book contains some pretty heavy subject matter. It does, however, do right by it, in my opinion. Through The Janes, some of the worst of humanity is on display. But there's also justice and the story gives us a good sense of how that justice is important, even while it will never make things right or whole again.
I highly recommend this book and can't wait for next installment in the Alice Vega series! 4.5 stars!
