From the first few words, I could tell this book would not be for me. Referring to (presumably) one of the victims as "our girl", with descriptions that feel odd and forced to me. Then, in the next chapter when the protagonist is introduced, I knew I'd be frustrated by mostly referring to her by her last name. The language continued to be odd, stilted, choppy, with too many partial sentences. I couldn't connect with any of the characters.
