I love stories with strong women in the lead but I am immediately skeptical if this is one of the main claims of the book. What ends up happening (and happens in the excerpt for me), is that the writing is trying SO HARD to make the lead 'strong and independent' that it comes across as not only a cliche but stereotypical. Instead of telling me in the blurb that your character is a strong woman, just write one and let me find out through the narrative.
