This was excellent! I really liked all of the main characters and was fully invested in the outcome of this story. Jude, Zara, and Emer each had a lot at stake and I thought that they made a great team. The magic of the story was unique and I loved the fact that I never knew which direction things would go. There were a few twists and turns that caught me completely by surprise, which is always fun. I found this book to be incredibly entertaining and almost impossible to put down.

Jude, Zara, and Emer don’t know each other at the start of this story but are drawn together by circumstance. Jude is the estranged daughter of a very wealthy man. She made a deal with a demon but she didn’t do it correctly. If she can’t find a witch to help her fix the situation, she may not have much longer to live. Zara’s sister was killed by a serial killer and she would do anything to get her back. Zara intends to find someone who can help her do exactly that and she fears that she is running out of time. Emer has the skills that both girls need but it seems that her former clients are being killed, and the invocations on their skin are being stolen. The trio must work together to achieve all of their goals and to stop a killer.

I listened to the audiobook and thought that Kit Griffiths did a wonderful job of bringing this story to life. I liked the voices that she used for the various characters in the story and thought that she was able to add just the right amount of emotion to her reading. I found her voice to be very pleasant and I thought that it suited the story perfectly. I am certain that her performance added to my overall enjoyment of this story. I will definitely be recommending this one to others. This was a wonderfully exciting story with characters that I cared about. I hope to read more of this author’s work very soon.

I received a review copy of this book from Penguin Random House and Penguin Random House Audio.
