This is at its core a story about women and their agency and taking control/power back. I really liked that the message was shown to the reader through the characters and the plot as opposed to just being spelled out and hitting us over the head with it repeatedly. The plot itself was very fast paced, but it still allowed for a lot of character development. All three girls were flawed and relatable and I really enjoyed their dynamics together. They were all pushed to drastic measures, but it was easy to see where their motivations were coming from. The magic system was super interesting, if a bit confusing in the beginning. I found Emer's storyline to be the most intriguing and I felt like the story really picked up when all three girls got together. The writing was super eerie, which made it a great October read. Overall I think it was a page turner with an important message.
