I thought this excerpt was well written and pulls you into the story right away. A girl walks alone in a dark alley at night but is not afraid of the man seemingly chasing her because of some deal she made with the dark side for protection. I’m curious what the words on her wrist say and what the deal was. She also mentions that men can’t have magic which was an interesting part of the excerpt too.
I don’t think I’d read this because it sounds too dark for my tastes but I do think it will be interesting and well written.
