The prologue immediately drew me in, wondering who this mysterious man is and how he could just appear so close to the girl, and the "invocation" she has that allows her to transport through shadows. I was then drawn in even more as we meet Emer. We get snippets of her past, reeling me in to want to know more about her and how she ended up where she is. This seems like a really exciting book, not only with magic, but a good mystery as well. I look forward to continuing the story!
