The Invocations by Krystal Sutherland is from a genre I don’t generally read, but the First Look was very well-written and intriguing. I enjoyed that this clearly haunting story opened on a college campus during a typical day of college life. Although life appears ordinary, there is something much more sinister lurking just below the surface. I’m not a fan of not knowing exactly what is occurring in a story, especially when it goes on for too long, but that being said, the story kept me interested. This is a dark novel, and one I will not return to because of its darkness, but the author deserves credit, and I know it will appeal to many other readers.
