I wouldn’t call this book amazing but it was nice. A nice slow pace, a nice story despite some of its darker elements. This book is listed as “fantasy” but with all of the heavy fantasy that I read it is hard for me to classify this book in my brain as fantasy. It reads and feels like a contemporary story that happens to have an empath in it (this is not a spoiler, it basically reveals that on the back of the book).
I really like the cover and how it ties right in with the book and the way Caleb sees his abilities. It is a very nice touch and I believe it helps the reader connect more with the story.
In the end, I gave the book 3ish stars as it was not a terrible read but it also was not a brilliant read for me either.
