It’s been a minute since I read an entire book in one sitting but once I started, I couldn’t put it down. When I had about fifty pages left, I kept thinking that I did not want this to end.

I listened to the first season of the Bright Sessions podcast when it was first released, but I didn’t keep up with it afterwards (though now I’m ready to binge the rest of the seasons!) so it’s definitely not necessary to listen to the podcast in order to read the book. My memory on the podcast is a little hazy, I remembered the major plot points but not the details.

Ever I heard there was going to be a Caleb and Adam book, it was instantly on my radar as they were my favorite characters from the podcast.

Caleb and Adam are two very different high schoolers. Caleb is on the football team, Adam is in the debate club. After getting into a fight at school, Caleb ends up in therapy where it is revealed he is an empath. Not only is he dealing with his own feelings, which can be difficult enough as a teenager, but he is dealing with the feelings of every person that he comes across. The only thing that seems to help the overwhelming waves seems to be Adam.

Overall, I loved this book. Since I remember enjoying Caleb and Adam so much in the podcast, I had high expectations for this book which were definitely exceeded. Now I’m excited to binge the podcast as I wait for the next book in the series!
