Full disclosure, I am a huge fan of The Bright Sessions podcast. I've listened to the whole thing more than once all the way through, and I've gone back a re-listened to my favorite episodes multiple times (many of which include Caleb/Adam storylines).

So I had pretty high hopes for this book. Not going to lie, I was a bit nervous going in. I wanted so badly for it to be so much. Lauren Shippen did not let me down. It was so great to see more about each character's personal lives, outside of just Caleb's therapy sessions.

The writing itself can seem unassuming, but the emotions conveyed in the text are just so perfect, in that relatable-but-can't-quite-explain-it kind of way. There's a nice nuance in the way Adam's and Caleb's inner thoughts are written, so even kinda knowing where the story was headed, I was completely absorbed.

The story is about what I expected. I admit I got a bit panicky toward the end, I knew from interviews about when the book would end in the general timeline of the podcast, but I kept worrying that there wasn't enough left to fully wrap up the story. Those fears were resolved quite neatly though, and I really enjoyed the ride.

I look forward to a re-read, I'm sure it will be in the very near future.
