To me the sign of stellar character development is when they feel so real, you're pretty sure you've known them you're whole life. Adam and Caleb are that. I really appreciate Caleb's perspective in Doctor Bright's office because those are the same thoughts I've had waiting for my first therapy session. It's hard enough to be a teen, but one in therapy? You feel broken when all you want is normalcy. You have created that in Caleb. Adam's end thoughts about depression and self harm are also SO REAL. I went through those feelings and that logic in freshman year. I appreciate the balance of his struggle with mental health but the fact that hes still a human being that likes light and needs a good hot chocolate sometimes. These characters are so compelling and I just have so much empathy for them. You balance the realness of being a teen with the escapism of Atypicals SEAMLESSLY! P.S. I love the jacket so much! It explains Caleb's experience of Adam keeping him green in a straightforward but freaking stunning way. I think its also relatable despite the fiction of it. We all have that person we feel "green" with!
