Benjamin writes an intriguing novel about 4 siblings that go to a fortune teller and learn the dates of their deaths. While the siblings do not openly share the dates that they have been given, we see them live their lives according to the proposed date. Simon and Klara flew to LA to live out their dreams of living artistic lives. With Simon’s absence, Daniel and Varya go a more traditional repute and Daniel is an army doctor whole Varya studies studies longevity, while also caring for their mother. Interwoven paths illustrate certain familial bonds and ultimately revenge.
I found this book to be engrossing due to the novel storyline. Benjamin does not cross the line of taking “fortune telling” to an unbelievable extreme, resulting in the entire plot being believable.
